PJ & the O's have arrived!! Summer is around the corner, so it's time for all you seasonal demi-gods to get ready for Camp Half-Blood! Join us by the bon-fire offering as we discuss all things PJ & sometimes O's. We kick off the festivities by revealing which cabins/gods we would belong too, but also which one's we'd dream of joining. Next, before being sent on our quests, we get to draft our preferred companions and our magical/transforming celestial bronze weapons to slay any monsters that cross our path(s) to glory. Somewhere along the way we lose track of the time & have to rush back to finish the episode before it's too late (not sure why?). Then we dive deep in Poseidon's oceans to discuss our Fatal Flaws and some of the more mature oriented tones found throughout the series. As we return to Camp Half-Blood to share tales of our glory, we realize the most important thing that we gained along the way was friendship...and some super cool magic items and powers. I thought to myself, would life be better in the third person...? This week we go over different POVs in books! Professor Brett gives us the crash course on literary POV as we discuss pros, cons, and examples of each. Parker enjoys a hotdog while Brett thanks all of the Moms out there on an early Mother's Day. Dan would rather be reading the Gentleman Bastard Series though he obviously needs to slip in at least one more Maze Runner joke for good measure.

It's our April book week! We're talking Neil Gaiman's American Gods this week and boy oh boy did a lot of it probably go over our heads. We kick off the episode with our general likes/dislikes of the novel before going to podcast therapy with our protagonist, Shadow. Then we have a fun interlude of our own with another classic Dan story! And the fun doesn't stop there as we move into a discussion of how our modern god/goddess of social media would destroy the new gods from within. Throw in some "real talk" about the effects of technology on anxiety and America's problematic obsession with manifest destiny, and you have yourself a full episode. Don't forget the cherries on top, a Marvel movie tie-in and major reveal of Shadow's true identity!

This week we go off book by starting with some Oscars drama and then lay the groundwork for our very own awards show. And even give away the first award! Dan takes us on an adventure through the great state of Hawaii where he had some close encounters with creatures of the deep and wanted to bury himself 20,000 leagues under the sea after almost losing his wedding ring. Parker relives a harrowing week of sickness and breaks down his love/hate relationship with his current reading material. And Brett had a bunch of background noise so he kept his short story very short. We finish off the episode with a question and some answers ranging from off the cuff and off the radar to just right on the money.
